Subtitle: Eighteen Miserable Years in the Life of a Labour Supporter

O'Farrell describes his life as a middle class Labour supporter during the years of Mad Maggie Thatcher and John "grey" Major. He convincingly writes about his experiences campaigning in various elections, the holier-then-thou attitude of the left in the early eighties and the way in which his own personal life gradually becomes more important then fighting the good fight.

Immensily funny and very recognisable for anybody who has been involved with (left wing) politics. Occasionally he even makes a good, serious point, for instance in his rant about the unpaid, unrecognised volunteers every party needs to keep its machinery running.
