If the BBC is so antiwar…
Why then, when talking about the causes of the renewed resistance to the US occupation, do they mention
only four possibilities of whom is behind the increasing sabotage of oil pipelines and such:
- Diehard Ba’athists and Saddam loyalists
- common criminals, freed by Saddam just before the invasion
- Radical muslims, perhaps including Al Quada
- Various tribal groups, involved in revenge
Is it just me, or is there a fifth possibility, that at least some of the resistance is actually done by common Iraqis, opposed to the US occupation of their country? I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find out that some of these attempts to blow up the oil pipes was done by people who don’t want their oil to fall into American hands. (In this context, it doesn’t matter whether or not the oil now starting to be exported again will benefit the Iraqi population; it matter whether the occupiers are believed when they say it will benefit the Iraqi people….)
