Tom Tomorrow is once again explaining to the hard of thinking that, yes, the US did go to war because the president and his buddies sold the country a pack of lies on how much of a threat Saddam Hussein was.
Not to grudge him his pleasures, but I do get the impression this sort of discussion is pointless when you have to explain for the n-th that the sky really is blue and always was blue, complete with cites dating back to 345 B.C.E. It is important to have your facts right and it is important to be able to explain things clearly, but at one point you need to give up trying to convince people by argueing. Instead, we need to convince those who aren’t pathological liars in the pocket of
ideogoges by constantly repeating our core arguments. This was and is an illegitimate war waged by an illegitimate president for the enrichment of the people who put him in the White House. Keep
repeating this and do not let yourself get sucked into debates about splitting hairs.
