What sticks here isn’t the smokescreen nanny, which is a real issue, but the incredible links between the former PC and the mob and the real estate industy. New Yorkers obsess about rent. Nothing else, except for the friends paying debts (why would you have a wedding you can’t afford) sticks out as a sign of outright corruption. Because on his salary, he was spending about 30K a year in rent for his E 79th St apartment. Where does that other $30K come from? He’s not getting that apartment except as an in kind gift. He’s certainly not paying for it. Now, Rudy could have covered the rent. But that means he was a collaborator in Kerik’s adultery. It would be nice to see the leasing arrangement for that place.
Now, if it was a PD safehouse, why was Kerik using it as a personal love shack? That’s an abuse of power at a minimum. But those are the alternatives, PD safehouse/corporate suite or a gift given on the pad.
Giuliani either didn’t care or couldn’t say anything when Kerik did all this shady crap. Which given his rather vulgar public moralism, is quite shocking. He wasn’t some mayoral aide, but the police commissioner of America’s largest force. Who was taking gifts from friends and using a quite expensive apartment. Let that sink in: the PC was getting favors from mob-connected friends and real estate moguls, the kind which did business with the city. Milstein is no Trump hype artist. He’s the real deal, a powerful developer who leases space to the city. If a DT tried that crap, he’d be before the trial board in a heartbeat. Yet, Kerik was like some kind of corrupt swashbuckler, going from mistress to mistress, while his patron went off with his.
And during all this, Judith Regan, firery-tempered editrix, is ranting on about Clinton’s morality, while married man Kerik’s dick is occasionally in her mouth. Slurp, slurp, that Clinton is unfit for office, slurp, slurp. Jesus, what is it with this Irish single chicks. Her, Dowd. We know they fuck, they occasionally fuck the wrong guys, and no one is supposed to notice while they attacked Clinton for an act they have been familiar with since their high school graduation? And they wonder how a kid could fall for the President? Ok. We wonder how Regan, who suffered through a bitter divorce, could sleep with a married man in public office.
