Watching Big Brother

How very odd to hear what sounds like Rob Hoveman on Radio 4, on Galloway’s answerphone message. And now John Rees is on, on behalf of Respect.
I ‘m very glad I decided not to go with the SWP flow when Rees shat on the Socialist Alliance (there should be something in the Take It as Red archive somewhere, but I’m sure a quick google will find the necessary details equally well.
UPDATE: Try this report from Martin Ralph – I was at that meeting, being at the time on the SA Nat exec, and that account is substantially as I remember events)
Though I must admit Rees is not doing so badly against Eddie Mayer. “If the media covered the antiwar movement fairly we wouldn’t have to take these steps’, Rees just said. ( I paraphrase, liveblogging).

Who is bankrolling that Anti Galloway group I wonder? Oona, is that you?

The East London Advertiser says:

GEORGE Galloway’s aides have made a bitter complaint to Channel 4 bosses over ‘political censorship’ of the MP in Celebrity Big Brother.

The Bethnal Green and Bow MP’s advisers claim they have been ‘stitched up’ by the show?s producers.

They are furious that none of his discussions with housemates over issues including the Iraq war and deprivation in Tower Hamlets have been aired on the edited daily highlights package on Channel 4.

Respect MP Mr Galloway, 51, only agreed to go on the show after he was assured there would be no political censorship.

His team said they were not expecting him to have a free platform to spout his views, but they were led to believe viewers would be able to see him in political action.

I cannot believe Rob Hoveman, or Rees for that matter ( whatever my own feelings about him) could be that naive. “Led to believe’ something by the media? And they believed it? What, are they still in poltical nappies? Jesus, did Rob learn nothing from the election?

I’d love to hear what the former SA press officer Anna Chen has to say about this particularmedia disaster.

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, washed the t-shirt 23 times, threw the t-shirt in the ragbag, now I'm polishing furniture with it.
