UK Government : US Iraq Officials Are Swivel-Eyed Neocons
I was just listening to Kim Howells, Labour MP and Foreign Office minister, who’s visiting Basra, on BBC’s Today programme. He was desperately dispensing koolaid and ridiculously upbeat.
Asked if Iraq is more, or less, safe because of US and UK actions, he said :
“…the fact is Iraq is more safe”
The interviewer was quite surprised at this and asked well, isn’t it a bit of a mess? Howell’s reply :
“I don’t think so – its a mess, but a mess that can’t attack Iran, invade Kuwait or develop nuclear weapons … it’s the same as the mess most of us live in – there’s huge potential- look at the positive, there is no civil war.”
Interviewer: ‘But isn’t the world less safe? Aren’t even the neocons and former US government changing their minds about Iraq?’ Howells:
“I don’t listen to swivel eyed rightwing Americans.”
So there you have it, British Iraq policy in a nutshell. Everything is for the best in the best of all possible worlds, and anyone who says otherwise, even if they’re our ally, is a swivel-eyed neocon.
Well, thanks for clearing that up, Kim.
Meanwhile, in other Iraq news – one of the kidnapped peace actvist group that includes 73 year old Brit Norman Kember, has been found tied up and shot.
“There is … no will for civil war in Iraq ” Kim Howells
