The Planet Strikes Back.

This interactive map, via Making Light, showing the areas that’d be flooded should the sea level rise – and it will – has a morbidly sick fascination to someone who lives in (the patch of North Sea that will be formerly known as) Amsterdam. Even the amazing Dutch ability to run flood protection projects is unlikely to save it given a 5 metre sea rise.

Meanwhile, as per my earlier prediction, there’ve been 2 earthquakes in Iran, 4.7 to 6.o on the Richter scale. I’m no seismologist, just an enthusiastic amateur, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of the shock waves from Aceh yet.

More on that, as Kirsty Wark would say, later.
