TV journalist Martin Bashir has apologised for making what he called a “tasteless” comment about Asian women.
Speaking at the Asian American Journalists Association annual banquet in Chicago, he said: “I’m happy to be in the midst of so many Asian babes.
“In fact, I’m happy that the podium covers me from the waist down.”

August 7, 2008 at 1:17 pmThe words “tv journalist,” like that of “politician,” can and will often cover a multitude of sins. It is my impression from what little I’ve heard of tv journalists that they are mostly people who failed at other jobs, or went after the ones they got because, like crows, they’re attracted to shiny, inert things. If we were a decent, truly moral nation they would be rounded up and sent to work in salt mines.
