The local council in the De Baarsjes district of Amsterdam has decided to sell its new ‘no cannabis smoking’ signs for EUR 90. De Baarsjes was the first district in the Netherlands to implement a new by-law on Wednesday to prevent young people hanging around in public to smoke drugs. The first sign on Mercatorplein disappeared shortly after it was erected and similar thefts have followed. Local officials how selling copies of the signs will sate the public demand. Money raised from the sale of the signs will go to charity.
