The Lonsdale Exam
The Dutch government has released the study materials for those
“…that want to prepare themselves for the Civic Integration Examination Abroad. This is the examination that some people” ( ie non-white people) “need to take in order to obtain an Authorisation for temporary stay (mvv).”
Note that this is only for a temporary stay and you have to take it before you arrive…
That webpage refers you to another page for info on what exactly is required of you, but lo and behold it says “For detailed information about this examination, please see the website of the Ministry of Justice. [exact page not yet known]”
The Ministry of Justice website refers you to the Immigration Service:
“As of 15 March 2006, the civic integration examination abroad will be introduced. As of this date migrants wishing to settle in the Netherlands for, in particular, the purposes of marrying or forming a relationship will be required to take the examination.
Many people aged between 16 and 65 who need an authorisation for temporary residence (MVV) in order to come to the Netherlands will first be obliged to complete the civic integration examination abroad in their country of residence. This applies, amongst others, to people who wish to form a family with someone in the Netherlands (for example, through marriage or by forming a relationship) and to religious leaders coming to the Netherlands for employment, such as imams or preachers. In many cases, obtaining the integration examination becomes an additional condition needing to be met before an MVV can be issued.
The examination tests fundamental knowledge of the Dutch language and Dutch society. The examination is held orally, in Dutch, at the Dutch embassy or consulate general in the foreign national?s country of residence. Taking the examination will cost approximately ?350.”
Nothing, but nothing makes me as angry at the Dutch than this inburgering nonsense. Not the ignorance, bad manners and generalised xenophobic aggression, not the weird poo-shelves in the toilets, not the crappy customer service and rudeness, not even the women and their scowls, choppy, ugly hair and sharp elbows, though they do regularly make me livid . It’s Inburgering that really makes me steam, as it’s all the worst aspects of the Dutch and their nation, all rolled up into one nasty little government programme.
I can understand any nation wanting new migrants to have some idea of the country they’re coming to. But the Dutch, as usual, are taking it to nationalistic and bureaucratic extremes, in forcing people (who may have sight or access problems, or who may not even be literate in their own language) to learn Dutch, an outdated language that is a minority within a Germanic minority language group. Nobody but the Dutch ever uses Dutch. To then make those people pay 350 euro – what can be a monthly wage in many countries – for the privilege – is typical Dutch money-grubbing. They’ll rifle your pockets while insulting you all the while.
All this for a temporary visa.
The NL government starts from the premise that anyone coming to Holland is out to get something from them, and that to be non-Dutch is to be a lesser person who’s obviously on the make. Even if you put yourself through the all the shit they throw at you, learn the language, pay the money, do the exam – it’s not enough to have been succesfully inburgered, oh no. You’ll still be an allochtone all your life, and so will your children, if you’re non-white, and so will your children’s children’s children, yea, unto the 10th generation.
Inburgering has nothing to do with social cohesion or helping new migrants. It’s all about the Dutch saying ‘you must be just like us’ and ‘you must become a little cookie-cutter Jeroen or Hans, Sjonnie or Anita” because anything that is not Dutch has no validity and must be wiped off the face of the polders.
Poor, sad little declining nation. They are so insecure in their identity that they must force everybody to be as small-minded, petty, snotty and greedy as they are. Well, they can fuck off. I will never learn Dutch on principle, because it’s what they want. If I pick it up as we go along, fine, but I flatly refuse to have lessons. I’m an EC citizen: the Human Rights Convention applies to me and it’s my right to live and work anywhere within the EU, regardless of language. The convention gurantees the right to a family and private life too, and that includes marriage and joining a family member.
The Convention protects a series of fundamental rights, including:
- The right to life
- Freedom from torture, inhuman and degrading treatment
- Freedom from forced labour or slavery
- The right to Liberty and to a Fair trial
- Freedom from facing retrospective crimes or penalties
- A Right to Privacy
- Freedom from discrimination
- Freedom of conscience
- Freedom of expression
- Freedom of assembly
- The right to marriage and family
The Dutch government are soon going to find that this racist law is against the Convention’s provisions. However it won’t stop individuals , newly emboldened by the likes of Rita Verdonk in her metaphorical Lonsdale jacket, giving you the stink-eye when they realise you’re foreign, or muttering ‘Kut-Marokaantje’ under their breath to their neighbours at the bus stop.
Bastards. How can such a beautiful country be full of such utter shits?
