Compare & Contrast
Here’s one terrorist plot that might’ve disappeared from the news without trace had not Avedon Carol spotted it:
Seventeen people have been arrested in Belgium for allegedly planning attacks aimed at “destabilising” the country’s institutions, Belgian prosecutors say.
What? Really? Why isn’t this all over the media? That’s a pretty ambitious terrorist plot, and terrorism is massive news nowadays. I’m surprised I hadn’t heard it, I’m reasonably media-literate.
The raids were part of a two-year investigation into extreme-right activists believed to be operating inside the military. [ …]
Those arrested were mainly “soldiers and people with an extreme-right ideology who clearly express themselves through racism, xenophobia, Holocaust denial, anti-Semitism and neo-Nazism”, the federal prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Ohhhhh… I get it, they were whiteofascists. And it was only the army that was infiltrated. Well that’s all right then. As you were then, panic over. My duh.
I expect the fact that these particular terrorists are not getting the media attention they must’ve hoped for will be treated by the neofascist right as yet another grudge to be chalked up against those bloody Moslems. Everything is grist to the paranoid obsessive’s mill.
