The Fruitcake gallery
Dedicated to those Republicans who seem determined to make asses of themselves and their party by behaving in a loony matter fitting a fruitcake. This in honour of House member Pete Stark (D-California) who spoke truith when he first called a certain Republican a “fruitcake” and “a wimp”.
During a House of Representatives committee meeting, Bill thomas called the cops to evict the Democratic members from a sideroom where they were discussing the bill that was under consideration in the meeting. While the Democrats where tangling with the cops, who wisely decided they had no jurisdiction, the Republicans on the committee had already voted to pass the bill, even thought he Democratic members where not present and had not even seen the last version of the bill!
The supposed reason for calling the cops, according to Thomas was that the lone Democratic Repr., Pete Stark, who stayed behind in the meeting was threatening a Republican member, Scott McInnis, calling him a “wimp” and a “fruitcake”. Which turns out to be true, considering that mr. Stark is 71 and mr. McInnis is more then 20 years his junior!
It’s for this reason that Representative Bill Thomas (R-fruitcake) gets the first Fruitcake Award!
