The Daily Kos shows why Dean will win the Democratic Party’s primaries:
Clark, Edwards, Kerry, Kerry and Lieberman all requested to be taken off the ballot, fearing some sort of reprisals from voters in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Dean decided to contest every single vote, even if DC is a “beauty contest” with no delegates.
The result? The other “serious” candidates have cleared the way for an easy Dean victory. The election, the only one that week in a probably slow mid- January news week, will garner a great deal of press attention. And headlines that scream, “Dean wins DC primary” won’t include the caveat, “because the other candidates stayed home.”
And the final irony is that Dean’s decision to compete has done nothing to harm him in either Iowa and NH. The other candidates made a political calculation out of fear. Dean bucked the CW and decided to compete.
