Steal the Vote 2004, part 17
In Nevada, as in Ohio, Republicans tried to get Democratic voters of the rolls. This time it was Dan burdish, “a Las Vegas businessman and former executive director of the state Republican Party” who tried to get 17,1000 voters declared illegitamite.
Fortunately, this attempt was quickly squashed:
LAS VEGAS – Clark County officials have rebuffed an effort by a former GOP operative to purge about 17,100 Democrats from the voter rolls in a hotly contested Nevada congressional race with important political implications.
Dan Burdish, a Las Vegas businessman and former executive director of the state Republican Party, had tried to get the Democrats off the voter rolls by claiming in a challenge last week that they were inactive voters.
But county Registrar of Voters Larry Lomax said Tuesday that he will not move forward with Burdish’s self-admitted and partisan attempt to influence certain local races. He said Burdish can only challenge voters in his precinct, and not in the entire 3rd Congressional District.
Lomax said that means just over 100 residents could be challenged – but they still have the right to vote if they can provide oral or written proof that they lived at their old addresses before moving elsewhere.
Nevada is also where a GOP connected company was accussed of shredding hundreds of voter registration forms, all belonging to Democratic voters.
