The ‘charging threshold’, ridiculous as it may sound, was to try those who had 20 or more UK Uncut leaflets on them at the time of arrest. I guess we will never know if this was a deliberate manipulation of the evidence, or just incompetence – neither of which reflect very well. It being clear that I was 4 leaflets shy of what the prosecution deem as guilty – they had to let me go. Well lucky me, but the remaining defendants are still there. Those 4 flimsy leaflets are what stand between me and my friends who are still on trial.

Top Ten anti-gay activists forced out of the closet
It’s not true that every homophobe is just repressed about their own desires to suck cock, so to speak, but the odds increase drastically when they’re professional, paid homophobes, especially of a religious bent. And the more famous and agressively anti-gay they become, the more hilarious it is when they’re caught, as this top ten list of anti gay activists caught at it makes clear. My favourite:
Glenn Murphy Jr., former head of the Young Republicans and one of the (former) leading Republicans of Indiana, always advocated “straight” family values and straight forward sexual orientation views.
He was caught (finally, the second time he did it) performing fellatio on another Young Republican while that man slept, without that man’s consent.
He was later jailed in 2008 and as of March of 2010, has been forced to register as a sex offender.
It’s not that these people turn out to be more queer than a nine bob note, it’s that they almost always turn out to be rapist, sexual predators or people who have to pay for their sex….

The Tories are indeed running true to form.
The Public Whip (via Charlie Brooker on Twitter) reveals that Theresa May, Britain’s new Home Secretary and Secretary for Women and Equal Rights (including gay rights) has voted ‘moderately against’ gay rights during her career as an MP.
Is it even possible to be ‘moderately’ homophobic? Homophobia strikes me as the height of immoderateness, in and of itself, whatever qualifiers are appended.
Philippa Stroud: Fag Hag
David Cameron has got some explaining to do about Philippa Stroud, who’s both bigoted enough and stupid enough to believe gay people should be excorised of their gayness:

Philippa Stroud, who is likely to win the Sutton and Cheam seat on Thursday and is head of the Centre for Social Justice, the thinktank set up by the former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith, has heavily influenced David Cameron’s beliefs on subjects such as the family. A popular and energetic Tory, she is seen as one of the party’s rising stars.

She really believed things like homosexuality, transsexualism and addiction could be fixed just by prayer, all in the name of Jesus.”
It’s not every day you meet somebody insulting both gay people and Christians, as surely any Christian taking their religion serious will be offended by the idea that homosexuality is akin to demonic possession.
