\nTwo categories in today’s Hugo Awards post: best professional and best fan artist. First up, best professional artist:\n<\/p>\n

  1. Fiona Staples<\/a>: I know her artwork from Saga<\/cite> and love the way she can make the outrageous look mundane without losing the ability to awe you with her artwork.<\/li>\n
  2. Julie Dillon<\/a>: I love the bulk<\/a> she gives her art.<\/li>\n
  3. John Harris<\/a>: has a very seventies, Chris Fossian with New Wave influences art style which I like if only for nostalgic reasons.<\/li>\n
  4. Galen Dara<\/a>: slightly too twee for me. Nothing wrong with her artwork, just not for me.<\/li>\n
  5. John Picacio<\/a>: great artwork, but there are stronger contenders.<\/li>\n
  6. Daniel Dos Santos<\/a>: eh. Decent artwork and not a shame if he wins, but it was all too conventionally pretty and unimaginative for me.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nBest fan artist:\n<\/p>\n

    1. Sarah Webb<\/a>: great looking fantasy art and she’s only 19 years old<\/a>? Bloody hell.<\/li>\n
    2. Mandie Manzano<\/a>: I like those glass in lead paintings a lot.<\/li>\n
    3. Spring Schoenhuth<\/a>: Great looking sfnal jewelry<\/li>\n
    4. Steve Stiles<\/a>: Steve has been doing fanart for a long time now and it’s nicely cartoonish. Not surprising, considering he’s a comic book artist.<\/li>\n
    5. Brad W. Foster<\/a>: very traditional (ie dull) fanart. Eh.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
