Now Michel Vuijlsteke,<br \/>\nof the excellent Belgian (Dutch language) weblog <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.zog.org\/\">Tales of Drudgery<br \/>\nand Boredom<\/a>, has produced <a href=\"http:\/\/zog.typepad.com\/annotated\/\">The annotated Today in Alternate History<\/a>, taking those entries and explaining them, <a href=\"http:\/\/zog.typepad.com\/annotated\/2004\/08\/1779_the_stardo.html\">frex<\/a>:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"cite\">\n<p><strong><br \/>\n1 August 1779: The Star-Dotted Heavens<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nComposer Francis Scott Key was born. After the birth of the North American Confederation,<br \/>\nhe penned its national anthem, The Star-Dotted Heavens.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\nFrancis Scott Key (1780-1843)<br \/>\nLawyer and amateur poet. In the real world he wrote the words to The Star Spangled Banner after<br \/>\nthe siege of Fort McHenry in 1814. Sung to the tune of Anacreon in Heaven, it became the United<br \/>\nStates&#8217; national anthem in 1931.
